Tuya WiFi Solar Light Sensor, IP65 Outdoor
Blinds that close themselves only work if something knows how bright it is outside. This solar-powered sensor measures outdoor light and reports the value to the Tuya platform, where it can drive curtains, awnings, switches or sockets. It suits anyone building a daylight-driven routine without wiring a sensor indoors.
Daylight Readings That Drive Automations
✅ Follow the Sky, Not the Clock The sensor reports measured outdoor brightness, so an automation responds to an overcast morning rather than to a fixed time.
✅ One Reading, Several Devices One value can drive electric curtains, an awning, a smart socket or a switch, depending on the automation you set.
✅ Read the Level in the App The current light intensity is visible in the app, which helps when you are choosing the threshold for a scene.
✅ Made for an Outside Wall The housing carries an IP65 rating for rain and splashes, and it is intended for outdoor positions rather than indoor rooms.
✅ Ready to Use, Over Wi-Fi It connects over Wi-Fi and arrives ready to go, so the first automation needs no wiring back to a controller.
The chain is short: the sensor samples outdoor light, converts it into a value, and the platform stores that value. Your rule then reads it, so a scene can trigger at a brightness level rather than a clock time. Because daylight fades gradually, leave a little gap between the on and off thresholds so a passing cloud does not flip the scene twice in an afternoon.
Placement decides whether it works at all. The sensor collects sunlight, so it belongs outdoors in an open position; indoors it has nothing to measure and is not recommended there. IP65 covers dust and jets of water, which is what an outside wall or a fence post sees, but it does not make the housing submersible, so avoid standing water and open containers.
The package holds the sensor alone. The curtains, awning, sockets and switches it drives are separate purchases, and no bracket or mounting hardware is included, so plan how you will fix it before it arrives.
It is a measuring device, not a switch. Nothing clicks inside the sensor itself; the platform decides, then sends the order to whatever device your rule names. That is what lets one reading open an awning at midday and switch on a porch lamp at dusk.
