Bring a Temperature Reference to the Recipe

Temperature is useful information when you are checking a sauce, a liquid or the centre of suitable food. Place the probe at the intended point and allow the reading to settle, keeping it away from the container where that would distort the result.

Clean the probe between foods and follow the thermometer's care instructions. Keep the display housing out of liquids and do not leave the unit inside an oven unless the supplied instructions specifically permit it. Compare food readings with appropriate cooking guidance rather than relying on appearance alone.
