The hub is for the desk where the laptop lid stays open. One cable goes to the machine, the LED confirms power, and the switches let you leave a card reader or an external drive connected but off. Because each socket is switched on its own, nothing has to be unplugged between jobs.

Port counts differ by version: seven or ten USB 3.0 ports are offered, and the ten-port version is the one that takes a full desk. Transfer figures are theoretical peaks, 5 Gbps for the interface and 350 MB/s in high-speed use, so a slow drive or a USB 2.0 device will set the real pace.

Check the connector before ordering. The interface is given as USB Type-C, so a laptop whose Type-C port is charge-only, or one with only USB-A sockets, needs a different match. The 12 V power adapter comes with the hub.
