Make the Size Check Part of the Project

Use the appropriate jaws for the dimension you want to check, then position them consistently on the part. Inside and outside dimensions answer different fit questions, so choose the contact points before reading the display.

Zero the caliper as instructed and select millimetres or inches to match your drawing or part reference. A display increment is not the same as measurement accuracy; use the actual instrument tolerance for fit-critical decisions.
