42 mm Wood-Splitting Drill Bit

Splitting kindling with an axe is slow work when you only need a few pieces. This 42 mm splitting bit is made to be driven by a suitable powered drill, so the wood is split by the tool you already have in the workshop.

A drill-driven way to split kindling

The bit needs a drill with enough torque for the job; a small cordless driver will not do what a hammer drill or a corded machine can. Check the chuck type and the rotation direction before fitting the bit, and start on straight-grained, dry wood.

Clamp or otherwise secure the log so it cannot spin, keep the bit straight as it enters, and follow the machine and bit instructions for speed and PPE. This is a splitting accessory, not a general-purpose drill bit for masonry or metal.
