The box behaves like a virtual CD changer. The radio sees a changer on its own port, so track skipping, folder changes and volume all run through the controls the car already has, and nothing is added to the dashboard.
Check the radio before ordering. It has to be the original factory CD unit with a CD changer port, and the unit cannot be used with navigation or DVD systems. The model years in the technical list are the ones the fitment is given for; a car outside them needs checking against the radio, not the badge.
Music comes from a USB stick or an SD, SDHC or MMC card as MP3 or WMA files, and the 3.5 mm jack takes a phone or a portable player that has no card slot. Choose the input on the radio and step through the files with the same buttons.
The box adds wired inputs only: a stick, a card or a jack lead. Its output current is 200 mA, so it is not there to fast charge a phone. That limit matters if you were expecting the USB slot to do double duty as a charger.
