Set the reference before taking the reading

Choose the front or rear benchmark, set the units and aim at a suitable target. Keeping the reference consistent makes a series of room measurements easier to compare.

Surface reflectivity and ambient light affect results, especially at longer distances. Check critical dimensions independently and keep the laser away from eyes; select the range version that matches the intended use.
