The handset sits between your compressor hose and the valve: air enters through the G1/4-inch inlet, the dial shows the pressure as it builds, and you stop when the needle reaches the figure in your handbook.
A gauge on its own tells you that a tyre is low, and a separate inflator adds air without telling you how much went in. Having the deflator on the same handset matters after a hot motorway run, when a tyre needs to come down a few PSI rather than up.
It is an airline tool rather than a compressor, so you need a compressor or a garage air line to use it. The gauge runs to 150 PSI, and one inflator with the gauge is supplied in the box.
At roughly 26 cm long it drops into a toolbox drawer or a door pocket. Keep a note of the handbook pressures in the car, because the dial reads what is in the tyre, not what the manufacturer recommends.
