IDE Optical Drive Audio Controller DIY Kit
Turn a compatible IDE optical drive into an audio-playback project with a solder-yourself controller kit and remote.
✅ Control playback without a full PC interface - The controller provides play, pause, stop and track-navigation commands for a supported drive.
✅ Read the status beside the drive - A 1602 LCD gives the project a local display point.
✅ Operate from the listening position - The supplied remote provides another way to send playback commands.
✅ Build the controller yourself - A component kit makes the assembly part of the electronics project.
Reuse the drive in a dedicated audio build
An older IDE drive can form part of a DIY audio player when its command support matches the controller. Assemble the board, configure the drive as instructed and connect the 40-pin interface.
This kit requires soldering and appropriate power for both controller and drive. Compatibility is not universal, especially with some writers, so confirm the drive first; no optical drive or complete audio system is included.
