Using it is a short sequence: open the lock, drop it over the brake lever, push it down onto the bar, close it and turn the key. While it sits there, the lever is held inside the clamp rather than left free to move, which is the whole point of putting it on before you walk away.

It differs from a disc lock or a chain in one practical way. It needs no anchor post, no room around the wheel and no loop to thread, so it works in the tight spots where a chain has nothing to attach to. Treat it as one layer of locking rather than the only lock on the bike.

Check your bars before ordering. The clamp is shaped for the brake lever and handlebar of motorcycles and small-bodied electric bikes, and the body measures 13.5 x 6.4 x 2.3 cm with a 24 mm thickness. A very wide or unusually shaped lever may not sit properly inside the clamp.
