Match the machine shank, ER format, cutter diameter and permitted speed to the actual selected assembly. Extra overhang changes the tool arrangement, so use an extension only where the machine and tooling instructions permit it.
The family includes quarter-inch, 8 mm and half-inch shank options with different collets or packages. Select by all fitting dimensions rather than assuming every pictured collet is included.
