Position decides how the unit works. The sensor needs a clear line of sight along an entrance, and the fitting should sit at a 10 to 30 degree angle to the wall, with the bracket adjusted to aim it; a corner inside the shed door, looking along the opening, is one practical place for it.
In the box are the alarm unit and two infrared remote controls. The remotes use AG13 cells and those are included, while the sensor takes four AA cells that are not. Because the remotes work on infrared, a closed door or a stack of boxes between you and the unit will stop them.
Expect the siren at the unit itself: no separate sounder, app or phone alert is part of this model, so it is a local alarm rather than a monitored system. Keep the sensor away from a heater, an air-conditioning vent or a cold-air source, and do not point it straight through a doorway where warm air moves.
