Plan the Basking Area for the Animal

Measure temperatures at the animal's level and provide the thermal gradient required for the species. The distance, enclosure and fixture affect the result, so wattage alone does not determine a safe basking temperature.

Use a heat-rated fixture and prevent contact with the hot bulb. Do not rely on this bulb as a verified UVB source or use generic lighting hours for every reptile; follow species-specific veterinary and equipment guidance.
