Post-Mounted Self-Locking Gate Latch in Carbon Steel
A gate that will not stay shut turns every trip through it into a job. This latch fixes to the gate post in carbon steel, finished black, with a sliding bolt and a screw lock that takes a padlock. For garden, paddock and farm gates.
A gate latch that bolts to the post
✅ Shut with one hand Lift the bolt, swing the gate, drop it into the catch on the post.
✅ Padlock it shut A lock can be added to the latch when the gate has to be secured overnight.
✅ Carbon steel body The latch and bolt are carbon steel with a black finish, for a post that stands outdoors.
✅ Fits to the post The body mounts on the post rather than the gate, so the bolt lines up with the frame.
✅ Farm and paddock gates It suits a field gate on a holding or a garden gate on a fence run.
Fit the latch before you judge it: hold it against the post with the gate closed, because the gap between post and frame sets where the catch has to sit. Manual measurement carries a tolerance of one to two centimetres, so a dry fit first saves a second set of holes.
In use it is a two-part movement: the bolt draws back, the gate swings, the bolt goes home. A screw lock sits on the body, and a padlock can be added through the latch when the gate needs more than a bolt.
The parcel contains one latch with its bolt. Screws and fixings are not confirmed either way, so have a set to hand for the post you have. The black finish can read slightly differently from the photographs under different light.
