Analogue Soil Moisture Meter with 170 mm Probe
Take a soil reading before deciding whether your plant needs another drink. This analogue moisture meter uses a single probe for suitable garden soil and potting soil. It is for home gardeners comparing conditions below the surface.
- ✅ Look below the dry surface — The probe reaches into suitable soil to give another reference before watering.
- ✅ Compare several parts of a pot — Read at more than one point rather than relying on one small patch.
- ✅ Understand the dial quickly — Dry, moist and wet zones give context to the needle position.
- ✅ Move between planting areas — The handheld body makes separate checks possible in pots, beds and greenhouse soil.
Read the soil, then consider the plant
Use the meter as a guide alongside the needs of the particular plant and soil mix. The coloured scale is a relative indication, not a laboratory moisture percentage or a diagnosis of plant health. Check several points when conditions may vary across a pot or bed.
Insert the probe gently to around 10 cm where there is enough suitable soil depth. Do not force it against stones or hard objects. This is a soil-testing tool, not a meter for liquids, gravel, sawdust or other loose materials.
Remove the probe after taking readings rather than leaving it in the soil for long periods. Clean it and keep it dry between uses. The illustrated package contains one meter; plants, pots and other garden accessories are examples of use.

The illustrated overall length is approximately 260 mm, with a 170 mm probe.

Compare the indicated zone with the needs of the particular plant.

The numbered scale is a relative dry-to-wet guide, not a percentage.

Read before deciding to water, using several suitable soil points when needed.

Different planting areas need their own checks; one reading is not universal.

Use the meter in suitable soil rather than treating it as an air-humidity gauge.

Avoid stones and hard objects, and never force the probe into the ground.

The packaged tool is for soil moisture checks; pH testing is not confirmed.
