It is an adapter rather than a cable: it sits between the board's 24-pin socket and your existing power supply cable, and changes the direction that cable leaves in. The rest of the build stays as it is.

The light board needs an addressable 5V 3-pin ARGB header. Boards from ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte and ASRock with that header are named as compatible, along with other boards that use the same header; a board without one cannot light the adapter.

Because the body adds depth at the socket, check the gap between the 24-pin socket and the side panel before ordering. The adapter is aimed at cases where that gap is tight but still there, and at builds where a bent cable has been the only way to close the panel.
