Units cycle through grams, ounces, troy ounces, pennyweights, grains and carats, which is what makes the same scale useful for jewellery and for grain-by-weight hobbies as well as baking.

The body has overload protection, and the display shows O_Ld when the load is too heavy and LO_ when the cells run down, so a fault reads as a message instead of silence.

Keep it between 0 and 40 degrees C, so not on a sunny windowsill or beside a hot hob. The 10.5 x 13.5 cm footprint fits a narrow shelf and leaves room for a bowl on top.
