PCV Valve 6487779 for Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC

An older GM truck comes in for a service and the crankcase ventilation valve still on it is the original one. This replacement cross-references 6487779, 321734 and 12204-U3160-71 and covers many Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC and Pontiac models from 1974 to 1998. It suits owners keeping older GM cars and trucks on the road.

Replacing a crankcase ventilation valve on a GM engine

✅ References to compare OEM references 6487779, 321734 and 12204-U3160-71 let you compare it with the part coming off.

✅ Wide GM fitment The application list covers Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC and Pontiac models built between 1974 and 1998.

✅ One service line On a 1989 K1500 or a 1980 Regal, it is one line on a job already open.

✅ Shelf spare for a classic Keeping one on the shelf means a weekend drive does not wait on a part order.

A PCV valve is the small valve in an engine's crankcase ventilation circuit, and on an older engine it is a service item rather than a lifetime part. The body here is plastic, and replacement is a swap of the valve in the same position.

The fitment list runs from 1974 to 1998 and covers cars, vans and light trucks, so work from the model year rather than the engine alone: a 1993 Cadillac Allante and a 1995 Chevrolet C3500 both appear, each with its own year range.

The single most useful check before ordering is the number on the valve that is coming off. Several OE numbers are given here because the same valve was catalogued under different systems, and the number on the old part may be any one of them.
